The Balance and Falls Prevention Program is a class targeting people who have a history of falls, are at risk of falls, have noticed a deterioration in their balance, or feel they have lost confidence in their balance.

Balance and Falls Prevention Classes

The aim of this class is to improve strength, static and dynamic balance for patients who have a history of falls, are at risk of falls, feel their balance is deteriorating or have lost confidence in their balance.

While it’s not possible to completely prevent a fall, exercises that focus on balance and strength training can reduce the risk of falling.

The goal of the program is to strengthen the legs and improve both your static and dynamic
balance.

Our musculoskeletal physiotherapists have extensive clinical experience over many years, including a special interest in exercise rehabilitation. They have experience in treating degenerative conditions, hip and knee arthritis and postural and spinal conditions. We have been working with a wide variety of patients including an aging population and some with neurological conditions including Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.

We are able to tailor and grade the exercises in the class for the individuals attending taking into consideration their history of falls, current balance ability and strength, plus any underlying musculoskeletal or medical conditions.

A 1 hour assessment is required with the physiotherapist prior to attending the balance and falls prevention class.
